Classes/ Class 6

Welcome to Class 6’s section of our school website.

We are taught by Mrs Taylor with Mr Turner teaching Science on a Wednesday afternoon each week.

Year 6 is a very important year with plenty of activities, additional responsibilities and learning but it is also a lot of fun! We are taught by Mrs Taylor and we are supported by Mrs Trimble and Ms Binns , our Teaching Assistants.  We are a friendly, hardworking class and we always strive to do our very best.

In Year 6 we study four main topics: Deserts in the first Autumn term,  Ancient Egyptian Civilisations in the second Autumn term, World War 2 in the Spring term, and Inventors and Inventions in the Summer term.  Our topic web with further details is published on this page termly.

Homework is set every Friday, and will usually be a piece of Maths revision, a Grammar-based quiz and a reading activity. These will be accessed online using the MyMaths.com, and Study Ladder.com websites. Your child will be provided with their own login details for these.  Additionally, children are expected to revise for their weekly Spelling tests. Spelling pattern lists can be accessed via ParentHub each week. Parents can be especially helpful by ensuring that their children read for at least twenty minutes every day, followed by discussion about what they have read.

You can find this year's Meet the Teacher presentation in the documents below.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Taylor on the class email: year6@chinley.derbyshire.sch.uk
